Motivated by a deep love and respect for Hip-Hop, Trackstar the DJ has gained a worldwide following as one of the most respected mixtape DJs in the industry. Since beginning DJing in 1999, and releasing his first mixtape in September 2003, Trackstar has dropped over 100 mixes, including collaborations with Royce da 5'9", Phonte of Little Brother/Foreign Exchange, Hot 97's Peter Rosenberg, and Grammy-Award winners Killer Mike and Lupe Fiasco. As part of the elite tastemaking team The Smoking Section, one of the most respected hip hop blogs on the internet with 29+ million viewership, his reputation has skyrocketed over the last few years, while his output has only increased. As a result of his passion, professionalism, and focus, he has recently become Killer Mike's official tour DJ.
Trackstar has held down college and satellite radio shows and backed established and lesser known MCs onstage, rocked clubs, battles, house parties, colleges, and many other events across the United States. Through his non-profit organization The Center for Recording Arts, he has given lectures on hip hop history and DJ lessons to groups of adults and children, as well as leading hip hop workshops for youth of all ages in classrooms and detention centers. Through the CRA and other programs, he works to promote the spirit of hip hop culture and educate young artists on the realities of the music industry while providing them with academic and life skills.
Supporting both established and unknown artists, Trackstar is known as a DJ who puts quality music and hip hop culture first and second, and the money and politics of the industry second. Believing in the power of Hip-Hop, he strives to provide the balance it so desperately needs.
